Custom Home
Whistler, BC

This contemporary Whistler residence was designed to celebrate the connection between architecture, natural materials, and the surrounding mountain landscape. Working in collaboration with architectural designer Kat Sullivan, the project focused on creating a warm, timeless retreat that balanced modern mountain architecture with comfortable, livable family spaces and refined architectural detailing throughout.

Whistler Interior Design, led by Debbie Evans, was responsible for the interior architectural detailing and finish design throughout the residence, including custom tile layouts, kitchen and bathroom design, material selections, fireplace detailing, millwork coordination, lighting integration, and interior finish planning. Significant attention was given to the balance between large-scale architectural elements and carefully crafted details to ensure the home felt both sophisticated and welcoming.

The residence features dramatic vaulted ceilings, exposed timber structure, expansive glazing, and carefully integrated indoor-outdoor living spaces designed to maximize natural light and frame views of the surrounding Whistler landscape. Strong architectural lines were softened through the use of layered natural materials including stone, wood, textured finishes, and carefully selected lighting elements that create warmth and visual depth throughout the home.

The kitchen was designed as a central gathering space featuring custom cabinetry, integrated appliances, natural stone surfaces, and seamless transitions into the adjacent living and entertaining areas. Spa-inspired bathrooms incorporated layered tile detailing, custom finish selections, and integrated lighting to create calm, luxurious environments that complemented the architectural character of the residence.

Outdoor living spaces were designed as a natural extension of the interior architecture, including custom outdoor fireplace features, covered entertaining areas, and strong visual connections between the interior spaces and the surrounding natural setting. A separate guest house was also integrated into the overall property design to support both functionality and long-term flexibility for family and guests.

Throughout the project, the focus remained on creating a timeless Whistler residence that combines architectural strength, natural materials, thoughtful detailing, and highly functional family living within a cohesive and enduring West Coast design aesthetic.
